Cubs DVD: Ebay Only!
1 of 1 found this helpful The Chicago Cubs Collectors set is definately worth owning for any Cubs fan, but the prices you will find on Ebay are far more reasonable than what they are asking for in retail stores and should be purchased on Ebay. While it was wonderful to see some of the classic moments again, and that is the main reason the set even gets an "average" rating, as the editing is ridiculous. There is so much room on a DVD and with a retail asking price of above eighty dollars, you would think more things would be included. For instance, one of the extras is when Aramis Ramirez hit three home runs two times in 2004. Well, couldn't we see all three homers? They only include the third home run from each time he did it. Seeing the three division clinching final outs brought back great memories, but within ten seconds of the final pitch (which is all you get) the clip is cut off and you don't get to enjoy the on field celebrations. So, we get about thirty seconds of enjoyment for each win. Couldn't you have included at least five-ten minutes? I have all those games buried in my basement on videotape somewhere and I have HOURS of post game celebrating. Fergie Jenkins not even mentioned? Really? Where is Ken Holtzman's second no-hitter? Milt Pappas? Burt Hooten? We couldn't get those final pitches for their no-hitters? Being a lifelong Cubs fan, I would have expected more Jack Brickhouse and Harry Caray calls on the disc, but most of the play by play is from the network or other teams announcers. So, as a fan, it is something you should buy in the fifteen-twenty dollar range if you can, but some of the highlights are rather disappointing.
