Heavy story with surprise ending.
I first wanted to see the movie to see how German movie makers would treat the Second War. The story line went as expected until Max began to see the atrocities committed by the German command. The side story of the friendship with the officers son did soften the plot, but was carried to a crescendo with his death. The refusal of Max to follow lock step with the orders of the command showed great strength against overwhelming odds. His character exemplifies I think most of the German populace during the war. Overall, a great story told with honesty and character. Recommended to those who are interested in the Second War from a different perspective.

Biographical information on Peter Marshall.
1 of 1 found this helpful This is a story of faith and trust and overcoming adversity. Movies like this are not a priority for makers. It provides an insight into the life of Peter Marshall that younger people would not know. Highly recommended.
