Great value for a very good lens
1 of 1 found this helpful I have built an "all-sky" camera that takes images at night to search for meteors and satellites. The camera I am using is a ZWO ASI178MC (6.4M pixel, color, 1/1.8" size sensor). The camera came with a lens that allowed it be be used as an all-sky camera, but that lens had issues with chromatic aberrations and distortions in star shapes on the edges. This Fijinon lens is way, way better. While there are still chromatic aberrations, they are far better than the original lens I had and correctable in Photoshop. The star shapes are significantly better. The newer model of this lens from Fijinon sells for $450 and it appears to only add a manual iris. So, for my purposes, this is a great and much less expensive alternative.
The lens arrived wrapped in a ton of bubble wrap and a visual inspection of the lens element showed it to be in very good condition. There was just a touch of wear on the front of the lens, but it did not affect the optical performance at all. Since my camera had a "cs-mount", I purchased (separately) a c-mount to cs-mount adaptor (5mm threaded spacer) to allow the lens to come to focus with my camera. Focus was accomplished by turning the lens in/out via the threads on the lens until focus was achieved.
The attached image is one taken from the camera with this lens. It is a one minute exposure with a bit of post processing to pull out the stars better.

Best price for this kind of antenna
I needed a bunch of RP-SMA 2.4Ghz antennas for a project that is using Digi XBee radio boards. This were the best/cheapest option and saved a ton of money.

Works great with Arduinos
We have a rather unusual application, we are building a signalling system for a 7 1/2 inch gauge ride-on train layout for the Colorado Live Steamers. We are using these between the rails to detect trains as they pass over to set the signal lights. We have found that these are the best performing RFID readers we have tried so far. We are able to reliably detect a train with an RFID prox card attached to the front couple at speeds of up to 10 miles an hour with a 1 inch gap between the card and the reader. Our testing showed these to be 100% reliable which is very important to us.
We are using Sparkfun Redboard Arduino microcontrollers and these are very easy to interface using the Weigand library. Just need to wire 12v to the power leads and attach the D0/D1 lines to inputs on the Arduino. (We are using pins 2 & 3 in our application.)
I can imagine that if this were used in a door access system, they would be better than the 125Khz readers because of their superior read accuracy.
