WATCH & LEARN WHAT CAN HAPPEN TO A "CIVILISED" WORLD
2 of 2 found this helpful This is a graphic account of one man's war. Beautifully filmed and written by a true expert documentary maker, unlike the current fad for sending second rate soap opera actors to do this sort of work. This tale acts as a modern day lesson of what can happen when a world goes crazy. 43,000 allied troops dead, missing or injured in one campaign (Anzio Bridgehead) - think about that then.
Watch the film, go to Italy and marvel that in historical terms this happened yesterday.
The other lesson is the one of challenging fascism, still as rampant in the world in the 21st Centuary as it was in the 1930s.

A little iffy in places but still pretty good.
1 of 1 found this helpful A follow up to Secret Army, but the production values are not in the same league. Watched Secret Army back to back (I was ill !) and Kessler bought on the strength of that - the characters were a lot less rounded and the setting was a mite unconvincing - ultimately disappointing but each to his own !

One of the best.
Superb oblique account of the author's time at Stalag Luft 3 and the Great Escape. What was interesting is the author's Welsh and Welsh language view of his RAF career and time behind the wires. Well worth a read.
