Brady Bunch "It's a Sunshine Day" CD: For Fans & Kids!
WHAT WE LIKE: This CD is a happy trip for BB fans and for children, particularly when cruising around in the car! The stereo sound is far superior to what came out of your tv set in the 70s. Most of the songs are your catchy, bubble gum fun type. WHAT WE DON'T LIKE: Almost all of the songs are enjoyable, but skip "American Pie", "Sweet Sweetheart" and "Truckin' Back to You". No one can beat Don McClean for American Pie (truly!)and Sweet Sweetheart sounds like it's performed by an unknown group of singers reminiscent of the backups for the Partridge Family. Truckin' Back to You just sounds repetitive/annoying (using some unknown "disco" women to back Maureen McCormick). WHAT WE LIKE:If you saw and enjoyed the kids' movie "Charlotte's Web" back in 1973, there is a very nice rendition of the movie's theme on this CD. The liner notes (which are great nostalgia for you BB fans) say that the Bunch sang this song at the actual premiere of the movie out in California---who knew??? There are plenty of other tidbits of information about the Bunch's musical pursuits as well. SUMMARY: This CD would have been a "5", if not for the 3 previously panned songs that I mentioned. Well-known tunes from the tv series are great fun, along with less-knowns such as "Gonna Find A Rainbow" and "I Just Want to Be Your Friend". ENJOY THE SONGS AND THE LINER NOTES! :o)

The Brady Bunch - Seasons 1-5 (2006, DVD Set)
WHAT WE LOVE ABOUT IT: This is the classic, uncut, g-rated series that we kids watched in the early 70s and can now share with our own children. The absence of profanity and violence, and the presence of positive character traits such as selflessness, honesty and consideration for others is refreshing. As for the audio-visual quality, this DVD set gets an A. The images/colors are great, as is the sound. ONE DRAWBACK: The DVDs don't "rewind" the same way that a VHS tape does. If you want to play a few lines over again, you have to go back to the beginning of the whole scene and watch that scene from the outset. WHY WE BOUGHT IT: The episodes are completely uncut! No commercials! No more trying to "catch" an episode to record on tape (which would eventually deteriorate anyway).
