Great Pro DX lens
The Nikkor 17-55 is a phenomenal lens.... provided that you can get a good deal. The price for a new copy is rather steep unless your lenses are your livelihood.
Durable construction, this lens feels great in your hand. It's built to Last and to perform.
The constant 2.8 aperture is this lenses superpower. Distortion is manageable and easily corrected either in-camera or in post.
Color, contrast and sharpness are what you would expect.
Again, this is pro lens and is priced as such. If it's too rich for your blood I highly recommend the af-p 18-55 vr. Yes, it's a kit lens but within its focal range and available aperture it performs surprisingly well.
