The cord makes the difference
These are basic foam ear plugs, and they happen to work well for me: they fit my ears and block out the sound. But having a cord connecting them really bumps them up a notch! I never thought much about it before someone gave me a pair, but I'm always fishing around, looking for separated ear plugs, so having them connected is great. I had to buy my own supply of them!

I bought three, and all three broke right away!
I bought three of these at once. The first one broke after one use. The second one broke after one use. The third one...yes, it broke after one use. In all cases the problem seemed to be that the little latch end on the back became bent in a way that the pin couldn't be latched anymore. In case you think I'm some dope who doesn't know how to work a pinback, that's not the case! And after the first one broke, I handled the other two extremely carefully—but still got the same results. It seems to me that the round metal piece that forms the latch must be very easily bent, but then isn't easily bent back into place. The seller reports not having complaints about these before. So perhaps there was something wrong with this particular run.
