Not ESD-SAFE. Could destroy electronics if used in creation of station.
WARNING! FAKE ESD SAFETY LABEL. COULD DESTROY THE ELECTRONIC YOU SOLDER IF YOU USE THIS SHELL IN THE CREATION OR REPAIR OF A SOLDERING STATION.
ESD safe irons in addition to having grounded circuitry must also be housed in anti-static plastic, and have the circuitry EM shielded. The front plate that mounts the circuit board is plastic instead of metal so it isn't shielded properly, and the body is made of thin plastic that generates static easily. If you were hoping to replace the shell of your slightly melted old Hakko 936, this replacement would effectively turn your high end soldering iron into a hazard for anything you might hope to use it on. If you were hoping to make a soldering iron station from scratch the same applies. That ESD SAFE decal constitutes false advertising. For the price i'm sure some people are ok with it not being esd safe but they should at least be informed a head of time.
