Great product, camera lets it down but enough plus points.
HTC One was one of the choices I was considering when looking at a top end smart phone. The others being the Sony Xperia Z and the Samsung S4. The overall design and build quality, applications like BlinkFeed and Zoe, plus some very impressive product specs tipped the scale in the phone's favour. Blinkfeed and Zoe are definitely the stand out features of this phone. The browser is fast however the flash is not on by default so videos will not play within the browser initially. The touchscreen is responsive with minimum delay. The only time I have noticed delay is when unlocking with a pin code. The inbuilt TV remote is a plus and once setup is very useful. Additionally the TV guide gives reminders of shows that you have set as favourites. Also worth a mention are the speakers on this device which are loud and certainly a plus point. Battery life and the camera have been disappointing. Although not expecting excellent performance from the battery in such a spec heavy phone, it does surprise when I struggle to last the day without having to turn off data, brightness and also minimal use. The camera is definitely a disappointment. I wasn't expecting it to match the S4 however the performance has so far confounded me. Low light is good due to the new ultrapixel technology but I do find it to be a bit too bright therefore unable to capture colour contrast correctly. There are apps available to correct or edit however default pictures aren't the best. Having compared it to the S4, I still feel that there are some points in favour of the HTC One. Samsung seems to have packed a lot of features into the S4 that are mostly hit and miss. On the HTC One, Blinkfeed and Zoe are the main features that everyone will find useful. Again with the S4, the plastic body really brings the overall feel of the phone down considering the amount being paid for the device. The aluminium unibody on the HTC One certainly is a notch above the competition. This is a pretty phone with solid grunt underneath.
