Acer N300 VGA PDA as an ereader
As you probably figured out from the title, I bought this to use it as an ebook reader. I've been using a t35 sony clie for the past few years which has been good, but is on its last legs now. (LOT of use). I've looked at e-ink readers, but the size -including sony's so called pocket version - make them just too bulky to carry around. On top of which they're not touch screen and most importantly for me have no backlights. I know from reading various reviews and comments that people seem to think reading a device with a backlight for long periods is uncomfortable on the eyes, but can honestly say I've never found this to be the case. And when you spend your time waiting on gloomy railway platforms and sometimes equally gloomy trains, the backlight is essential. With its 640 x 480 resolution on a 3.7 inch screen the acer makes an excellent ereader. Text is clear, crisp and smooth, the only display that I've seen which is better, though not by much, is the 4th gen ipod touch. Page turning is instantaneous using either finger sliding, tapping or, if you must, the little joy button, and its got all the features you'd expect of any ebook reader. After trying the various readers, I've found that the free Freda ebook software is by quite a long way the best available for the device. The battery life on the acer is claimed to be 8 hours, but I've found with the backlight set fairly low -all that's needed - I get a good 10 hours of non-stop reading, which pretty much does me for a 5 day week. Of course it's got all the other features you'd expect from a pda: address book, version of word, various games, mp3 and video player. Just out of curiosity I've copied a couple of divx movies onto a sd card and they play back smoothly using a program called coreplayer. Depending on the version of the 300, it either has built in wifi or you can get an sdio card to go in the expansion slot. However, I'm of the opinion that any device without at least a resolution of 1024 x768 is just unusable for web browsing. Fine for emails of course. Youtube is unwatchable, far to jerky, but then since they changed to flash 10 a couple of years ago, you need something with 1ghz cpu and/or a good gfx card. Installing software is easy, you can either copy the programs on to an sd card and run them from there, or use the sync software. Same with data files. For anyone wanting a truly pocket sized device for reading ebooks - think a little taller than a pack of cards, but half the thickness - that can be read in all but the most direct and bright of sunlight, this is an excellent solution. It runs windows mobile 5 which is still remarkably well supplied with plenty of software available. There are even replacement interfaces to make it more ipod touch or android like, but I find the existing interface fine. Touch control is very accurate and responsive. Trying to find fault, the only thing I can come up with is that the viewing angle is fairly narrow, like some lcd monitors and I can't get the bluetooth to sync with either xp or 7, so have to use the cable or sd card. I picked this up for £30 and can truthfully say that I would have been happy with it at 2 or 3 times that price. Highly recommended.

Steamy!
Very good, simple to use, very fast to start steaming (are you paying attention Karcher!) For its size it gives a good amount of steam. I used it to defrost a very iced up fridge with no problem. Recommended.

Jabra Storm (more like a zephyr)
Easy to set up. Paired straight away to 3 different devices. Controls are simple and accessible. The speaker quality is fine. The microphone is useless, you have to take it off your ear and stick it between your lips before it picks up sound at a reasonable level. Not a single person I called could hear me when I wore it as it should be. Avoid.
