In "Boss", Mike uses his acerbic wit,personal files and experience to bring to life the fables and foibles of Mayor Richard J. Daley, recounting Daley's history of influence and control over the Chicago "Machine". "Boss" is a great read for anyone interested in the inner workings of power in politics and insights into the private life of one of the last, if not the last, big city political "Bosses".
Also recommended reading, "Clout", by Len O'Conner. Len, A Chicago newscaster and contemporary of Mike Royko, offers his insight and views of Mayor Daley and Chicago politics.
