Product has its issues (too tall, sits too high from ground, etc), but these are correctable. A good starting point for a very nice 1/87 scale quint.

An excellent representation of a classic fire engine.
It's not really "durable", nor would I call it "entertaining", but this (in both open and closed cab versions) is an excellent model of the 1970-1974 1000 series American Lafrance tractor trailer (tillered) ladder truck. It can also be a suitable representation of the late 900 series of the same time period (although few if any 900 series were equipped with the flop down hydraulic outriggers found on the model). There are few external differences, and in 1/87 scale are hardly noticeable. For those who not well versed on fire apparatus, think of it like a car. You have the base model (the 900 series introduced in 1958) and the fully loaded version which includes all the popular features (the 1000 series introduced in 1970). Since fire apparatus have fairly long service lives, from 10 to 15 years in major cities to as long as 25 or even 30 years or more in small cities and towns, this model could be appropriate on model railroads set anywhere from the late 60's to 2005 or a little later (a few are STILL in service).
NOTE: The companion engine (pumper) could be used as a 1970-1974 1000 series model or as a 1958-1974 900 series and would be suitable on model railroads set from 1958 on. Again, a few are STILL in service.

Good quality for a good price
My granddaughter was in need of a new bow and this one has worked out perfectly. It allows for a great sound, not scratchy as some bows cause.
