Honda VTX air filter

Nice improvemnt for my 89 Goldwing
1 of 1 found this helpful This was easily installed, and the bike immediately felt more stable cornering. The machining fit is impressive! I was not impressed with the 1/4-28 screws replacing the OEM M7 screws. M7 flat head screws are not common, and expensive if you can find them. Having a maintenance tech back ground, I noticed the M7 size was very close to the tap size for an M6 Heli-coil. Also 1/4" screws are nearly the same size as M6 screws. So I installed M6 Heli-coils in the lower retainer. My local Ace Hardware store had stainless steel M6 socket head flat head screws, These fit nicely in the brace countersunk holes. Now I am not concerned about stripping out the holes in the lower retainer.
