Brings fresh & powerful insight into combating & understanding terrorism.
Excellent insight into the modern day phenomenon of Terrorism. The book provides a more philosophical look at morals and the psychology behind the different organizations behind fundamental/extremist factions and the way they operate. As a current student studying international security and counter-terrorism, this book has a completely different angle of analyzing the behaviors and and responses necessary to combat terrorism, with much valued psychological and philosophic views into their views and motives, as well as their historical origins. I highly recommend this book to anyone studying or interested in political, sociological, or security disciplines. The amalgamations of the three authors add to the recipe of information. 2 are philosophy Phd's, and the other a Social sciences Phd (from memory). Their nuanced views on the moral implications between methods of terrorism and the currently accepted methods of fighting or countering terrorism are highly contemporary and involve the reader in a deep philosophical confrontation of known combative methods and other angles that can be exploited in the combat of terrorism. In all, just a well written book by a few authors of varying levels of psychology & philosophy, that provides a refreshing retake on the ethical and psychological tactics of combating this seemingly ever-growing problem of terrorism. Easy to comprehend, down-to earth writing with just a bigger insight on philosophy. A philosophy that asks the reader to consider certain things in regards to our current methods of combating terror, and suggests fresh ideas and psychological/philosophical alternatives to the accepted angles currently employed, (which are not always successful nor popular). I'd rate it 5 out of 5 for content, historical accuracy, and readability.
