BEST mobile antenna for 220 MHz
1 of 1 found this helpful I've surfed the internet & asked hams worldwide if there is a higher quality & gain mobile antenna for the 220 MHz band, it would seem there isn't. The Hustler CG-220 is a 5/8 over 1/4 wave collinear antenna for the 1.25 meter band providing a powerful 5.2 db gain. SWR is basically 1:1 over the entire band and it's a typical Hustler product, TOUGH. The 3/8-24 thread ferrule means mounting is a breeze with any CB or similar mount. Also available from Hustler is the CG-144 which is a 2 meter antenna of the same configuration & gain. This company has been in business for decades and has produced this Collinear Gain antenna for many years. They also offer a ground plane kit to utilize these great antennas as a base.

As dependable as a Timex
I haven't failed to make a jaw drop yet when I raise the hood of my Jeep. Instantly I see the status of my battery every time. This has been installed on my 95 Cherokee for over a year. I've jumpstarted other vehicles, forgot & shut the plastic cover between my hood & core support but I still have it without even a crack. VERY limited corrosion, sprays right off with DeOxit. Gives you a GREAT point to connect to with jumpers, extremely rugged. Also gave me an early indication that it was time to replace my battery! Voltage display is very accurate, agrees with both my multimeter and cap inside the vehicle. For the price it is an incredible value.

VERY fun little multi-platform electronic device
2 of 2 found this helpful I've had my eye on this neat little radio for years now, finally decided to just go for it. I enjoy collecting nearly all kinds & types of radios, so I had to have this one. It combines a standard AM/FM radio, weather radio & FRS/GMRS two-way transceiver. The XT511 also features a bright flash light, USB charge jack and a hand crank to charge the supplied rechargeable battery. There are a few little things I'll nitpick on this, for one (and this seems to occur in most Midland FRS/GMRS radios with weather alert) the weather alert feature seems to activate for no particular reason. The USB charging jack doesn't seem to work well, I tried to charge my dead cell phone with it & gave up after 48 hours, the radio was plugged into it's power supply. I'd also like the option to activate the display backlight continuously. Otherwise, this is a fun little gadget and a great emergency radio. Great for camping, hiking, fishing, road trips, and a wonderful device to have all charged & ready to go in the event of severe weather & power outages.
