A Story for All Ages
Clive Barker's books have a way of creating a picture in a person's head. This TPB allows readers to compare the images in their own mind to that of the writer himself. It's a great story and has great memorable characters. To anyone who can find a copy, buy it!

Inspiring the Young to Imagine
I purchased this book because of the storyline and the fact that it won a Caldecott award. Granted those awards aren't everything that they're cracked up to be, but in this case I believe that they nailed it. The story itself is a great one to read to children before bed time. One of those reasons being is that it is a very short read but also provides the glimpse into using one's imagination to pretend to see what the mice are experiencing. My 5 year old daughter took great delight in wrapping her mind around what blind mice would imagine the parts of an elephant to be. The graphics aren't elaborate, but they are very colorful and simplistic. There isn't a lot to wonder from on the page and is good for keeping focus on the story. The only reason that I rate this book as good instead of excellent is the fact that it is so short and simple. After reading it to my daughter twice she could practically recite it to me herself. I believe this book is a great once every other month read or for those with toddler-aged children.

A Glimpse at the White Goblin
After reading the Rainbow Goblin, I believe that the White Goblin was a good runner-up to the first book. It wasn't quite as bold with colors and vivid images as the first, but it offered a storyline that seemed to mimick behavior in terms of how the world is treating itself. Being the White Goblin, obviously there is very little hues to play with, but it was done with magnificent detail as well. The book itself is visual candy that is wrapped up in an underlying storyline. Like most children's books, it is a parable about the environment and how it can be treated. For younger kids and adults it's very eye appealing and catches the richness of color that I've only seen Ul de Rico can provide. Being 1 of the 2 books that I've been able to find of his is a rarity and a treasure to keep and pass down to your children or other family members.
