Bricks had a very humid and musty smell. After washing each piece by hand twice, they still smell. I spent and extra $30 in active charcoal to try and reduce the smell. Time will tell. Some of the pieces were wrapped in plastic wrap very tightly, which caused several pieces to break that I will have to source. For what I spent on the set, would have expected something in better condition. I purchased this set for my son for Christmas. Luckily I have 6 months to figure it all out.
