Very Good lens if Purchased at a Reasonable Price
1 of 1 found this helpful The Sigma 24-60mm is a very good short zoom lens if found in a price range of $200.00 to $250.00. Reviews of this lens can be found on several internet sites. One of these sites is fredmiranda.com under the review section, Sigma zoom lenses.
Another Sigma lens in this zoom length is the 24-70mm Macro DG and is at least $100.00 more expensive on eBay. I think, this lens was produced after the 24-60mm and from a review may have a little better performance compared to its older sibling. However, I have not been able to find any side-by-side reviews of the two. The 24-60mm lens is smaller, lighter and use a smaller diameter filter in relationship to the 24-70mm.
Both of these lenses can be used with the DX and full frame digital or film cameras. One reason, I looked at these lenses as well as they are much less expense compared to Nikon lenses in the same zoom range. Also, many of the other manufacturers only sold DX format lenses and wanted a lens for both formats.
This lens would make a very good lens for any amateur or beyond; who does not need for an everyday workhorse of a lens.
