Perfect for a low-cost win9x or DOS rig.

My goal was to build a Gaming rig that could handle DOS games natively. This board's embedded gpu uses S3 Unichrome technology, and S3 stuff is famous for working well with DOS. While the build in sound is fine for Windows 98, I added a pci sound card with the ymf744 chip from yamaha. After a few hours of playing with drivers, I finally got native OPL3 sound in DOS and fabulous XG midi in windows. Back to this board, the driver disk covers windows 98 through XP. Installation of Windows 98 hung up until I went into the BIOS and restored everything to it's safest defaults. After install completed, I put my custom settings back in, and it ran just fine. One more thing: the cpu and gpu only have passive cooling, and the gpu heatsink was getting painfully hot to the touch. I added a small fan to the heatsink, and it stayed pleasantly cool from then on. Overall, an easy little board to work with. Just bear in mind that the low cpu speed and lack of SATA ports makes it best suited for retro builds.
