Make replacement omega springs
Bought this to replace broken omega springs. Its perfect for this application and seems a bit snappier than original omega spring wire. You get plenty of material to practice making the perfect bends and with needlenose pliers and patience you can make all the omega springs you could ever need.

KaBar capable
This sidearm is very well made, it feels solid and relatively light. The finger guard provides some protection while still allowing you to chop comfortably and the balance point is around one to 1.25 inches past the guard. The Kraton handle is comfortable- grippy, but not too much & grips almost as well when wet. Typical KB stick tang construction measures about 1/8" x 3/8" where exposed at the butt cap and attaches with a 1/8" pin.
Blade is ground very well with consistent coating. Secondary grind is good and very sharp.. mine had an issue about half inch section from the tip on right side. Edge was ground straight not following the curve. I smoothed out the transition with a small file in a few minutes.
Ambi sheath is decent with a dangler, front pocket & plastic liner for a small companion knife. Belt loop puts the grip end at your waist which is a plus. The retaining strap holds the knife tight with no rattle. Leg lash the sheath and avoid the handle strap for the dangler, or snapping the handle strap renders the sheath rigid carry. Your choice.
I like the concept of a smaller chopper that falls in the size category of KB 7" field knives. I would say if you need to get through some heavy stuff the BK21 or 1249 will do that in less time but you would be surprised at what this hand axe can take out. Of course this wont stab as well but the point isn't so far off the center line that it makes stabbing difficult as is the case with a more exaggerated curve/larger kukri. A traditional pattern will do a couple tasks better but I have found the 1280 makes a fantastic camp knife and haven't been restricted by blade shape. All in all, a great value tool.

Because Leatherman
Good: Small but solid, excellent fit and finish, joints are pretty well built.
Bad: Not too big for your keychain but a bit heavy. It likes to flop around and slam into the dash so I took it off and put a lanyard on it. Would be good on your 'work' pocket hook.
Scissors are tiny but work. Files are a little hard to use. Screwdrivers are decent. Bottle opener sucks. Knife blade is decent but dont push too hard. I like these mostly for a useful pair of pliers that fold up and fit in your palm. Believe it or not, great for pulling splinters and picking up things you dont want to touch in a pinch. I noticed a while ago one side cam/spring for the pliers was sticking open. Put a drop of gun oil on it and no problems since. Good backup.
