Quality tool
RJ45, crimping tool makes light work of creating exact cable lengths and the tool oozes quality. For what it does its just perfect.

Overall makes a good second camera to your main one.
It started off very disappointing, but after a few days run-in the picture quality gets better.
I find turning off auto modes and using programme mode 'P' is the way to go. In low light turning up the iso speed setting to between 800-1000 gives the best results.
My actual version had a defective flash which was burnt out, and this has never been missed as the flash would only add wash out brightness to all colours.
The camera starts up very fast but I find my battery quite weak, not lasting too long.
Holding the cam' cool but need to brace your body and hands to get a great picture.
The menu could do with a bit more controls and less hand holding "auto" this/that, otherwise good second camera.

The D70s is the joy that is photography - see, capture, enjoy
1 of 1 found this helpful Started getting into this camera from day 1, since then with every shoot it just gets better and better, having the most fun.
The 6.1MP is woderful to view, so do not be fooled by mega - pixel madness, remember this only counts in large blown up pictures like - commercial posters and smaller, which most mortals do not venture into.
The feel is good after using a canon, but my opinion on this is that the canon felt stronger and built to last yet I am much more careful with the D70s. But the D70s still does feel great to hold. I do think the AE/AF-L is a bit of a stretch for my hands on which the canon was just much easier to reach.
The menus take a bit getting used to as I used a canon before and the D70s has some strange names for simple items or some things are just in the wrong place so you end up going many places looking for it.
I miss starting from ISO 100, but otherwise its fine cause you have many choices of fixing an exposure. The killer for me is using the PRE in WB (white balance), this allows you to pre take a photo to use as the basis WB for your session, setting the exposure for all pictures from that point.
Loving it on my Tamron 70-210mm (1996) lens its absolutely awesome. Got a 28mm praktica thats unusable on this lens at the mo' though so need some new prime glass.
