I bought this to replace an identical motherboard in a K53E laptop that had a failing electrical connection on the power jack. A lot easier than trying to solder a new power jack on the old motherboard, especially since I don't know how to solder. Lots of screws and cable connectors but otherwise pretty straightforward. There are instructions on the Ifixit website. Probably takes 2-3 hours if you start out not knowing what you're doing. Remember that you'll have a new MAC address for the wired network adapter, which will probably require a change to your network configuration if you use a wired connection -- at least, it did for me, running Debian. I cleaned out the fan, but lifted off the CPU and heatsink as a unit, so I didn't have to bother with reapplying thermal paste.
