1942 Walking Liberty Half 50c MS65 PCGS
18 March 2016
Eye-Appeal Matters
The 1942 Walking Liberty Half-Dollar in an MS-65 PCGS or NGC holder is a sound investment. There are multiple layers to consider. The first being, buying PCGS or NGC guarantees authenticity which is important with so many counterfeited coins out there. Secondly, 1942 was the first year the U.S. began their involvement in WWII which makes the piece historic. Third, MS-65 a.k.a. "Brilliant Gem Uncirculated" is an exceptional grade and worthy of purchase, even with such a high mintage number on this piece, not all remain in such pristine condition. Lastly, eye-appeal -- you want to make sure the coin you're purchasing is visually pleasing to the eye (everyone has a different taste). You can get an MS-65 example that has ugly black/brown toning which I would advise against purchasing. However, I was able to find a brilliant blast white blazer that was easy on the eyes and looked flashy and lustrous. To conclude, consider the above factors and you have yourself a valuable purchase.
