Immaculately detailed, well made model of the JR500 Shinkansen
Kato N-scale trains are immaculately detailed, very well made, packaged, and run well. This set is no exception. Note that the Series 500 Shikansen cars are quite long and therefore may pose a problem on parallel lines of track where track is spaced close together. It great stater kit for this Shikansen model, and I appreciate that Kato sells it this way; but one really wants another several cars to increase it's realism. At four cars it seems a little 'stunted'. Note that this set uses its own special kind of coupling system, that at first is a little nerve-racking to use (feels like you could break it easily), until you get used to it. This set is 'durable' in that under, normal use I expect this set to last a long time and there aren't any small loose parts on these models; but I would say this set, like all Kato N-scale, needs to be handled with care to avoid breakage.

Detailed and accurate set
Kato N-scale trains are immaculately detailed, very well made, packaged, and run well. This set is no exception. This set is 'durable' in that under, normal use I expect this set to last a long time and there aren't any small loose parts on these models; but I would say this set, like all Kato N-scale, needs to be handled with care to avoid breakage.
