Not a game but as interactive fiction it's worth a look
I have to say, I wasn't to sure what I was getting into. Sure, I'd heard about this game, read reviews, but it's one of those things that needs to be experienced to really know what the hell this thing is. The best thing to say is it's an interactive movie, filled with QTE's. Now, this may sound like complete crap considering that QTE's have been sucking enjoyment out of games for a few years now, but oddly enough it isn't that bad. It seems that since the game was built around this game play concept, it avoids QTE's usual pitfalls. The story is an interesting drama, with enough twists to keep your interest. Though, after a little thought, the story has quite a few plot holes so if you can't deal with an average game level story this game could be a long painful process. Plus, while the graphics do their best, the uncanny valley does rear it's unnerving head. The game has a lot of twists and turns, but really beyond death little makes huge impacts on the story. Overall, it's an interesting novelty, and the fact that it's become pretty popular makes me hopeful more interactive fiction can be green lighted, but its not a system seller. The Good: An interesting story, and the games QTE's didn't turn me off. The Bad: Story still only normal game quality, uncanny valley. Letter Grade: B I paid a price of $40 dollars. I feel that that was a pretty good price.
