APX HONEYWELL ADEMCO 6150RF KEYPAD TOUCHPAD VISTA 15P 20P 21IP WIRELESS RECEIVER
02 November 2016
6150 & 6150RF Limited Functionality for a reason, 6160 & 6160RF allow for programming Vista motherboards
The keypad received was new and high quality. (((*** BUT ***))) The ONLY reason I gave this product an average rating instead of a high rating, was because advertisers did NOT make clear the purpose of this keypad and the reason for its use. The 6150RF is ideal to provide remote entry where you only want to share basic and functionality limited information with one or more system users, and/or provide an RF connection with a key fob when a 5881 Receiver device is not available. The 6150 and 6150RF keypads are good if you DO NOT want users to know the details of what zone is associated with a particular office, window, entry... This helps keep users ignorant about the details of the security system. Only coded zones are displayed without any alphanumeric description. You cannot access Vista 15P or 20P motherboard program values with the 6150 or 6150RF keypads; there is no Alphanumeric Display to read program values. To program the Vista motherboard requires a 6160 or 6160RF. Without the Alphanumeric Display of the 6160 or 6160RF, ONLY zone numbers are displayed to tell you what window or door is open. There are no English words telling you that the garage entry door is open, versus the living room window is open. The only equivalent readout is something like the numbers 20 or 16. So unless all the codes are memorized by everyone, ANY open door, window, artwork trigger, pet gate ... that is open, causes having to visit every alarm switch to find the one that is open. MAKE SURE YOUR VISTA MOTHERBOARD HAS AT LEAST 3 UNUSED WIRELESS ZONES AVAILABLE IF YOU WANT TO USE THE 6150RF OR 6160RF WITH A KEYFOB; BEFORE YOU PURCHASE AN RF STYLE KEYPAD, OR IT IS A WASTE OF MONEY. ALTERNATIVELY, A WIRELESS EXPANDER 5881ENH CAN BE PURCHASED instead of the RF enabled keypad, TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO AN UNLIMITED NUMBER OF WIRELESS ZONES; but it is not clear yet to me what resources in the Vista 15P or 20P are used up to interface with the 5881ENHC Wireless Receiver: Specifications and other documents about wireless receivers are found here: Google Search: Honeywell 5881ENHC Receiver - connects in parallel to the four wire keypad data lines of the motherboard; but can also be wired in parallel to an existing 4-wire keypad. 5881ENL Up to 8 zones 5881ENM Up to 16 zones 5881ENH Unlimited zones depending on control panel. The 6150 and 6160 cannot talk to wireless keychain fobs like the 5180. The RF enabled keypad or 5881ENH Expander, allows a key fob to arm/disarm the alarm from outside the entry within a certain number of feet. This is valuable in some security applications, so that the motherboard can be set to immediately trigger an alarm if there is a breach. Instead of the usual waiting of 45 seconds or more to allow an authorized user the time to access a keypad to disable the alarm. Deterrents can be triggered immediately instead of allowing for snatch and run theft before the alarm triggers, or other immediate response needed where seconds are critical. The RF enabled key fob (5180 for example) can alternatively be set up to control 4 different functions of one's choosing. For example: enabling/disabling a specific zone for a particular user, panic medical alert to ANY phone number, automated call for emergency or security response, triggering a 20P relay to provide home automation like turning on sprinkler system to deter animals in a garden or unauthorized people on the property, when motion is detected by a motion sensor, ... The 6150RF is ideal to provide remote entry where you only want to share basic and functionality limited information with one or more system users, and/or provide an RF connection with a key fob when a 5881 Receiver device is not available.

Good value.
Have used for 2 months now without any problems. Delivered on-time. Have current turned down so charged by morning, but not quickly, to maximize battery life.
