Better than I 1st thought!
I got these tubes and immediately popped them into the Little Dot MkII I'm using as a preamp in my digital chain. At first, I was a little underwhelmed because they seemed kind of dark compared to the GE JAN 5654s I was running before. But after a bit of settling in, I find these fantastic for the lush tone they present with any of the "sizzle" I get from the GEs. The detail is maybe a tiny bit less, but the over quality surpasses that slight loss. I'd recommend them if you are running a front end that has a very strong and forward HF presence, as these tame that while delivering on smooth transitions and, again, that lush and honey flavored sound.

Let them burn!
1 of 1 found this helpful These are not great sounding tubes out of the box. Claustrophobic and muted are words that come to mind. But, as with all tubes, you need to let these guys get some burn in time. Mine are starting to open up and the clarity and soundstage are increasing with every listening session. Its just the nature of the game when it comes to any tubes. I've got these running in a Little Dot MkII as a preamp, and I'm enjoying them more and more as time goes on. Well worth the purchase if you are patient and don't expect instant gratification.

Best new production tubes around.
These are the absolute best new production 12AX7's you can put into a home amp. The clarity and full lush sound is honestly better than any other NP tube I have tried, and it rivals, and surpasses some, NOS tubes in the same price range. I prefer Gold Loins because, unlike NOS tubes, I know there is a constant supply and have no worries of the price skyrocketing as they get rarer. Do yourself a favor and buy these tubes!
