Tim Burton with a twist
I enjoyed this film very much indeed, although I found it more obviously grim and scary than other Tim Burton films, which are subtler on various levels and therefore more suitable for different age groups. Being a fantasy film, a lot of explanation was required for viewers who had not read the book(s) and was a task well-mastered by the director, but it appeared to slow down the pace. A certain woodenness was inevitable when few characters had more than bit part appearances. A lot of threads remained unexplained at the end and Miss Peregrine's exit followed by subsequent non- appearance was confusing. The ending was so open, it was most unsatisfactory at several levels. Like a scene or two too many had been cut, spoiling the flow of the tale. It has inspired me to read the trilogy, which I suspect will be far more fulfilling.

Colour coded recycling bags
I bought these to pop under a workbench so the accumulated recycling items would be tidied away. They are colourful and large enough for most items. Easy to clean too. However they are floppy, so only sit up as illustrated when full. I have had to make a stiff cardboard lining to use them as intended and that is not ideal. They also smell very strongly of plastic, which possibly has health implications. OK if in a garage or similar, but not in the home.

Disappointing in natura
This was a disappointment because it is very flimsy material and really glittery, which is certainly not picked up in the photos. OK for a purely fancy dress occasion, but not any good for anything like LARP. The youth it was bought for will not wear it, because the combination of pan velvet and glittery gold net suits his sister more as a dress. To be fair, it would be fine for a silly Knights and Ladies type fancy dress party, but not for serious role play and re-enactment events.
