GARMIN VERSUS TOM TOM
8 of 8 found this helpful I just bought this model on ebay. I have read plenty of reviews and it is always written from the view of someone "new" to a GPS unit. You read things like, I can know reach my destinations better", well, duh! So I am not going to rate this model based on NO GPS. Also, I have not tried every GPS out there as well. I have a Tom Tom XL-S. I been a loyal Tom Tom guy, this was the 2nd one, but the battery life sucks. I always wanted a Garmin, know they equip airlines etc. The Garmin is superior to the Tom Tom, ease of use, more compact and slimmer I placed it on the left hand side, impossible with the Tom TOM. Takes up too much room, need to be placed in the middle of the windshield. Tom Tom is clunky and very heavy. Factory holder cannot support them also. The Garmin is way better in finding POI's., police, etc. Acquisition time was crucial. I often need to find address quickly, Tom Tom took forever. I literally had to warm up the car and GPS in the garage, the Garmin located things much better. Also, worked in the garage, Tom TOM cannot locate itself in closed areas. Very accurate too. Tom Tom is more customizable, but I can live with that. The FM transmitter is nice, but it is static prone, GARMIN FACTORY mount is superior as well. Garmin found plenty of new places in my area, which also included their phone numbers, organized much nicer into groups, Tom Tom has a search option, but you literally have to scroll through every place that has the word "Italian" rather than search for "Italian" restaurants. Garmin has A LONGER BATTERY LIFE AS WELL, TOM TOM IS SO SUCKY, NOW IT ONLY WORKS WITH THE POWER CABLE ATTACHED TO IT. Be like me, switch over to the Garmin. Also, this model has more options than the 255W etc. I bought this one for the FM transmitter. Sucky it did not work like I thought, it works, but not like I envisioned. Overall, its a great GPS, I felt Tom TOM cheated me from so many years of buying power cables, battery that keep dying, lousy customer service etc. I remember 6 years ago when I was buying my 1st GPS, I should have went with the Garmin like I wanted to. I paid close to $400 for this unit. The new Tom Toms continue having problems with their mounts as well. With their built in GPS units, you really cannot put them into your pocket. Compare their best units to Garmins, Garmins are light years away, Garmin just introduced this super ultra thin GPS unit, looks out of this world. Its super ultra thin. BTW, Garmin is superior to any other GPS manufacturers as well. Magellan, best Buy brand, etc.

Maxell has the best watch batteries.
In my opinion, these are the best watch batteries money can buy. I see these cheap Chinese discounted packs, but they are horrible. Pay a little extra and do yourself a favor. Beyond me how someone will have an expensive watch and than insert a 20 cent battery.

Tekton 47749 is a phenomenal oxygen sensor socket!!! Worth every penny!
I am a weekend mechanic and I ordered this online due to the infamous check engine light, PO139 to be exact. The code reader I have said it was the downstream oxygen sensor on a Mazda 6 (2010). I already owned a spark plug type tool, which is like a deep impact socket with a slit in the middle. That too was nearly impossible to use. I bought this one and it works great. My fear was using an offset design, a ratchet and extension would not have force equally to remove the o2 sensor, but it did. I did NOT need to soak the o2 sensor in wd40 all night, etc. I typically read all the reviews to ensure I do not miss anything. I read one that said there was a design flaw, there is NO design flaw. It is impossible for the tool manufacturer to know the position of every o2 sensor known to man. If you do auto repair, you know we always improvise with tools to get the job done. Tekton seems to make good quality tools and this is no exception. Another thing I truly like about this sensor, I was able to use a torque wrench in such limiting space. Sensors came with instructions to torque it based on the size.
M18 sensors - Install finger-tight then 1/2 - 3/4 turn with wrench/O2 sensor socket 26 - 33ft. lbs.
M12 sensors - Install finger-tight then 3/4 - 1 turn with wrench/O2 sensor socket 13.2 - 17ft. lbs.
I learned that most sensors use the M18, so I torque mine to 30 lbs. I was scared to under torque or over torque. When I installed it and I tightened it without a torque wrench, I noticed that I had under-torqued big-time. When I used the torque wrench, it still went a few turns (it seems). Due to the tight spacing, this is the only tool I can use that I can confidently torque it using a torque wrench and now I will sleep knowing it was done right. Mazda dealer wanted $250 for labor and $175 for the o2 sensor. I paid $9 for the tool with free shipping from a super Ebay seller and $70 for a NTK sensor from Rock auto. I have re-set the engine code and only time will tell if the check engine light remains off. Bottom line, the Tekton 47749 is a great, must tool, very high quality, inexpensive, I would buy it again. Almost all cars and trucks have o2 sensors, so buy it before you find yourself with the check engine light. Study your system before you buy. Some people buy tools and than they realize it will NOT work for their situation, that is NOT the fault of the tool manufacturer. One last thing, I owned an expensive $60 o2 sensor tool and this one is NOT any different. It is well built, rugged and ready to rock. I highly doubt the average home mechanic will need an expensive Snap on to remove a once in a lifetime o2 sensor. I am 50 years old and I have removed about 3 sensors in multiple cars in my lifetime. My tool box has lots of high quality tools made in USA, so I am not one of these Harbor Freighters, but I know where I can get away with a cost efficient tool and this is one of them. Thank you.
