One of the Best PC RPGs
2 of 2 found this helpful Even though the game was released several years ago and the graphics are showing their age, Neverwinter Nights is still one of the better gaming experiences with extremely deep story and interesting characters.
This game is based off of the Dungeons & Dragons universe, pitting your hero (and your friends' if you work over the internet or LAN) against countless wild beats, undead and other classic fantasy monsters. Along the way you will meet animated characters that will help you in your journey, uncover mysteries and grow to be a hero of epic proportions. The Platinum Edition includes both expansions to the original game: Shadows of Undertide and Hordes of the Underdark, allowing you to explore all of the games features and enveloping story.
Character leveling is fairly complex, allowing the user to pick from several different skills, feats and abilities. Experienced RPG players should feel right at home and pick up on the system in a matter of minutes, while players that are new to RPG or the D&D system can use the "Recommended" settings or pre-made character leveling types to guarantee they have a formidable character.
This version of the game contains all official expansions to the original game, excluding some of the premium modules included on Platinum Editions. However, even without these the game should take several weeks to beat through all of its expansions with a single character and frequent play. The game offers several different classes and alignments, along with many different side missions, so to get to see all of the game multiple play throughs are nearly required.
This game was released sometime in 2002 and some of the features show their age. The graphics, while still clear and entirely recognizable, make the characters in the game appear somewhat blocky and the backgrounds a little flat. Also, some of the interfaces in the game seem bulky when compared to modern games. None of these faults hinder the game play too much and can easily be overlooked.
Overall, this is an excellent game and also a great value for any PC gamer.
