Great macro lens
At half the price of the Nikon 105mm VR macro, it is a great value. At least as sharp as the Nikon lens and since VR is not needed for macro, I don't miss it. Also, it does not auto focus with my D5200, but I don't use auto focus for macro shots. I am very pleased with it.

Fills a niche that Nikon did not fill
Worked perfectly. I was able to use all of it"s functions very easily. The only reason that it did not get 5 stars is that the instruction manual is terrible. It apparently was not translated by a person who natively speaks English.
The next best alternative is the Nikon ML-3 but it has it's limitations. The TW-283 is compatible with the following: D3100, D3200, D3300, D5000, D5100, D5200, D5300, D5500, D90, D7000,D7100, D7200, D600, D610, D750, Df, Nikon 1 V3. Coolpix: P7700, P7800, Coolpix A, while the ML-3 is only compatible with Nikon cameras with a 10 pin connector. The ML-3 has a range of 26' line of sight, the TW-283 has a range of 80 meters non directional. The ML-3 has 3 channels, the TW-283 has 30 channels. The ML-3 is a simple remote shutter release while the TW-283 supports simple single shooting, 1S continuous shooting, [ BULB ] shooting, delay shooting and timer schedule shooting.Delay Shooting Setting can set delay time and shooting number, the delay time alters from 1s to 59s, shooting number alters from 1 to 99.Timer Schedule shooting time can be set from 0 sec to 99hrs59mins59sec. Shooting number can be set from 1 to 99.
The TW-283 costs less than $30 while the ML-3 costs $200. If the TW-283 should stop working, you could buy 6 more for the price of a Nikon ML-3.
I am very happy with my purchase.
