Great drive! One of the best available!

This is an excellent drive from Seagate. I have another 2tb freeagent that I have in use that is a couple years old. They have a great warranty and, in my opinion, one of the best drives Seagate has made. Quick access time and great transfer speed for USB. The drive is very quiet while operating, overall. Maybe a couple noises here and there, but nothing other than normal operation. Overall, no complaints with this drive whatsoever. Sorry to see that Seagate has discontinued production for the new "GoFlex" crap.

Nice drive...price!

I purchased this drive near the end of February, 2010. After much research and previous experience, I chose this manufacturer for my storage needs. This drive is an addition to a few other Seagate/Maxtor drives I already own. The drive comes pre-formatted (1.81G out of 2.0G for Windows) and "plug-and-play". It comes pre-installed with Seagate DiskManager which is nice if you want to control the lights or other features (sleep time) of the hard drive. It is nice but not a necessary install for drive usage. The drive can stand vertical (stand included) or lay horizontal (feet attached). It runs virtually noiseless but does produce some heat. This is to be expected since there is no internal fan. Nothing out of the ordinary, though. The transfer rate is very adequate and you can stream audio/video across the network with no delay. All-in-all and thus far, I have no complaints with this drive (nor any Seagate/Maxtor drive) that I own. They have all performed as expected with little to no problems. If you are looking for a large capacity, single drive, this one is a nice addition. And for the price, hard to beat.

Entertaining

Bought this for our 9 yo. Great for an older child who likes to play the games but does not need a phone yet. Great sound quality for something so compact. Going to upload some movies on it for her, also. Overall, a good purchase...
