Universal set doesn’t deliver
Bought this set to reseal my engine while doing major Spring maintenance. This is a universal set that has different seals/gaskets for multiple engines. When choosing a crankcase gasket, I couldn’t find one that lay nicely on the housing. I found one close and pulled and held it in place with gasket sealer. The gasket should lay nicely and match the gasket surface perfectly.
No big deal on the gasket as it didn’t leak when I ran it. However, I’m glad I didn’t put the crank pulley on before I checking the seal for leaks. When it was running at high speed, the seal was leaking around the crank shaft. Fortunately, a local lawn and garden shop had an OEM seal which I had to buy. It does not leak. I’ve been working on engines for over forty years so it’s not an installation issue.
