An essential book on French food and culture 1914-1891
I already owned a copy and wanted to make a gift to a friend who knew and admired Simone Beck.This an exquisite and fascinating book by one of the main food experts and practinioners of the Art of French cooking in France, the coauthor, with Julia Child, of Mastering the Art of French Cooking, Vols I&II. In addition to menus and inventive recipes, it tells about her life and adventures in the France of the twenties, the two world wars and the "reconstruction"period of the sixties to the eighties. It reads as a personal and humorous record of French life and culture of those troubled and determining years. More than a cookbook, a fascinating story by a "grande dame"who was also a great loverand frind of America. An indispensable companion piece to Julia Child's own "My life in France"which inspired the recent Nora Ephron film "Julie and Julia". A must read for all lovers of France and its food! Worth the price for the numerous illustrations alone. J.F. Thibault

Excellent moisturiser and skin conditioner
awonderful moisturiser for the whole body; also helps to heal rashes and skin imperfections. I cannot live without this cream and other products of ythe Avene line, all vastly superior to other moisturizers. Highly recommended!
