Great Supplementary Book
1 of 1 found this helpful I'd finished reading Easy Company Soldier and found a reference to Beyond Band of Brothers, as well as two other books written by other men who served in Easy Company. I've just completed Richard Winters' book and found it to be exactly what I'd expected. Great detail about Easy Company's experiences and engagements--both major and minor--without getting bogged down in typical military history books' minute information. His memoirs are truly reflective of how he perceived his role as a member and commander of Easy Company, how he felt about his men and their overall responsibilities, and how he contributed to the overall accomplishment, or at times shortfalls, of missions assigned to his unit. Well-written and in my humble opinion a truly great supplementary source if someone is interested in learning more about Easy Company's Band of Brothers.

A Hero's Story about Heroes
What a tremendous read! The true story of how our country's Navy SEALs train and excel is already compelling enough, but this book then takes it to the next level by bringing the reader along on a mission. The tragic deaths of Mikey, Axe, and Danny, made even worse by the deaths of the rescuers sent to extract them and Marcus, are told in such a way that only those who have experienced wartime buddies dying can understand. Yet, the reader is in the middle of it and somehow feeling, albeit in a very small way, what Marcus is going through. The irony of the story is that Marcus is then spared through the protection of the Pashtuns holding on to an honorable and time-tested tradition. How the two idealogies of the past and present combat each other is another battle within a battle. My utmost admiration for Marcus Luttrell, our Navy SEALs, and all our military Special Forces. Marcus, this is truly a "JOB WELL DONE!" God bless you always and may His peace bring you the needed consolation that all who have gone in the service of our country are having their story of honor, courage, and love for this country being told.

Buy this only if you're seriously interested in this genre.
A "must have" work for the serious student of Texas Ranger history! I wholeheartedly recommend this source if the reader is sincerely interested in learning more about this institution which represented the complete spectrum of Texas lawmen and how they operated, good or bad depending on individual perspectives. Glad I purchased it.
