Enjoyable romance set in1850s England
this is a period costume drama adapted for screen by Julian Fellowes. It is set in the 1850's and deals with class distinction, the waning wealth of some of the upper class families and the arrival of wealthy Americans into the upper class. The main theme is the romance between a lovely girl, born out of wedlock to a woman from the upper class but reared by the father's brother who is the town doctor. I enjoyed the commentry by Julian Fellows. It has a happy ending which is essential for me.
