Great student value
2 of 2 found this helpful Really a great horn for beginner through intermediate. This is a full-featured four-valve compensated euphonium. Construction quality is excellent for such a low priced horn. The metal is thin and lightweight, therefore not very loud and dynamically limited, but the tone is smooth and mellow. The lighter build makes it easier for a beginner to produce a decent tone. Good looking light brass lacquered finish. Good quality case. You cannot go wrong with this one.

good-sounding easy to play beater
I'm coming off the loss of my beautiful 1991 D-28 so forgive the cynicism: So you buy a Martin or Taylor for $2500+. It takes five years before it sounds any good. Then you get another five years of good performance before it starts going sideways. You spend $300 getting it fixed. It's OK for two years then gets bad again. Another $300. Great for three months. Now it sits in the case, unplayable.
The point of this lament is: Buy one of these. It's fun to play and sounds good. And when it falls apart I won't care, I'll just buy another one.

Let's be serious for a minute
1 of 2 found this helpful You get what you pay for, and when you pay this little, that's what you get. Amp has perhaps 20 watts per side. Quality is mid-fi, more noise than a good receiver amp. Also has a habit of reducing power after about 10 minutes of operation, even though it does not get hot, or even warm. Limited usefulness at best.
