Mathews Switchback Bow
This is my first compound bow I've owned. After getting my draw length measured and/or finding the formula online to calc myself and trying a couple manufacturers' bows, I found Mathews bows were smooth and fit me well. I found the used Mathews Switchback on eBay and got the package for at least $500 less than a new Z7 package (i.e. sights, drop away rest, Mathews quiver, dampeners, etc.) From the time I received my bow until I could start consistently putting arrows within 4" circles at 18 yds. was about 2 months of shooting in my basement 5-6 days per week. I still have a ways to go before I feel confident to hunt deer with a bow. However, I have found this bow to be smooth, quiet, accurate and well made. It's also adjustable from 70-60 lbs with the right Allen wrench, which I did adjust down 2 full turns to approx. 62 lbs. to gradually build up chest / arm muscles needed as a new bow hunter. I'd recommend Mathews bow (i.e. Switchback) to others looking for a quality bow with these characteristics.

Dr. Strangelove - "How I learned to love the bomb"
It's a classic cold-war era satire with great performances by Peter Sellers, George C. Scott and others. It hits you square in the face how man's attempt to control all things and safeguards can go terribly bad, while still injecting some dark humor into the strange story. It should remind everyone who is falling for this new era of "change" that you should be careful how much power and control you give to the gov't who alone can totally screw things up beyond repair.

Nikon Monarch 2.5-10x43 rifle scope is tops
I have used this 2.5-10x42 Nikon Monarch on my current Elk rifle and the predecessor 3-9x40 Monarch on Elk and deer rifles. I think these scopes are the best I've ever owned / uesed. They are clear and crisp scopes with very good light collection. Once you have them zeroed they stay put! 300+ yds shots on Elk with an accurate rifle on several occasions meant Elk down in their track. The life-time warranty is a big plus, too. This is the rifle scope I put on any rifle with the capability to hit 1" MOA or less groups. You won't be disappointed imo.
