Great "Starter Science" book for pre-K and Kindergarten
In typical "Bernstein Bear Book" fashion, this book is very appealing to its target audience. It's colorful, contains interesting drawings relevant to each topic, and is written with kid-friendly rhyming text that we have come to expect from these authors (the Bernsteins.) The topics covered are a great introduction to science for my 5 yr olds, such as thunderstorms, seasons, animals, plants, earth. The book is divided into chapters which is helpful for distinguishing the different topics. There is quite a bit of information and new (and age-appropriate) terms for the kids on each page, so it's too much to read the book in one setting.
Most importantly, my kids squealed when they saw it, asked us to read it to them right away, and often pick a chapter out of it to be read at bedtime each night. For this age group, this is a sign of a great book - one that kids want to read repeatedly. Best of all, it is entertaining enough to keep my interest as well, so I am more than happy to delve into this science book any time as well.
