Part appeared like OEM part, but electrical connector would not lock into place

I ordered a non-OEM Clock Spring (number 77900-SNAK-02) for my 2009 Honda Civic LX. The Clock Spring appeared to be exactly the same as my OEM part. However, when I tried to install the Clock Spring, one of the electrical clips would not lock into place, which is very important since this Clock Spring controls a critical safety device (i.e., the driver's air bag) in addition to other controls (e.g., cruise control, horn, etc.) on the steering wheel. So, I ended up ordering a second generation (non-OEM) Clock Spring (part number 77900-SNA-K52), and that second generation part fit perfectly in my 2009 Honda Civic LX.
