So far so good . . .
Briefly, I am having some issues working out the controls. The heater “heats” but I’m not able to determine if it has a thermostat built in that keeps it at a desired temperature. I.E. Not sure if I can set a temperature. I have to read the manual again I guess and I admit that it is my failing. Anyhow, overall, and so far, it is working well and for the price it is very good.

The beautiful tone of tortoiseshell
Having purchased a tortoiseshell pick (off eBay) a few months back and, being disappointed by the scratchy tone on the two top strings of my Martin, I, with some trepidation, ordered two picks from a different supplier; namely "scilasi custom designs". What I liked about the first purchase was the size. A smaller footprint than the standard pick. I found my speed and accuracy increased markedly, and, the tone on the bottom E string thru to D string was really NICE! I also loved the feel of the tortoiseshell and it it didn't slip at all, even though small.
Well, today my two picks from Scilasi arrived and gone was the scratchiness on the two top strings ... same nice tone on wound strings with added bonus of a nice clean treble tone.
Yes, these picks aren't cheap but at this stage they are worth the cost. I'd got used to paying a couple of bucks for a pick and now? Well, Aust$35 inc postage. each. BUT, the tonal difference, ease of playing, speed, non-slip more than make up for the price.
I liken the situation to a band that rehearses, sounds great in the studio etc, then gets to the gig and their great sound is destroyed by a poor front of house sound mixed by a sound tech who doesn't have a clue about mixing. You spend a LOT of money on a top end Martin and you love it but then you play it with a well made tortoiseshell pick and suddenly the guitar comes ALIVE!
I just hope they last a long time! Should do as I'm not a working musician. I'm a flat picker predominantly, having come to the technique later in life ... think Clarence White, Tony Rice, and a plethora of other great pickers.
