Model Shipways Bluenose review

Kit is complete and parts supplied more than adequate. This is the Model Shipways version now sold by Model Expo. Best suited for advanced intermediate or expert modelers. The Model Shipways is more accurately detailed than Artesania Latina or Billings Boats versions of Bluenose. Certain aspects of construction may be easier with the Buillings Boats version if accuracy is not important. Some of the Britannia metal parts are poorly cast. Lot's of wood. Includes walnut for optional double planking. The blocks and deadeyes are included and typical for these kits. Except the heart deadeyes which are laser cut from flat stock. Plan on replacing these. No paint. The plans are complete and accurate but can be confusing for beginners. Details are not always on the expected pages. The manual is brief. Between the manual and plans intermediate molders and above should be OK. Beginners should plan on getting a separate primer. The Bluenose is not as difficult as a full rigged ship. It is a very satisfying size and pleasing shape.

Works for a while

This is the only solution if the Kevo phone app does not work with your phone. It's cheaply made and overpriced. My first one became unreliable after only a couple months. The battery contacts are not well designed and become weak after the device has been carried in a pocket regularly.
