Dell T410 server with 6 hot swap bays and dual cpu capable server
1 of 1 found this helpful The Dell Poweredge T410 is a Server, meant to be installed in a server room. Fan is very loud, but that is by design. It is a poweredge server. If you want a quiet desktop workstation, then buy the Dell Precision T3600 T5600 T7600, etc. The precision line are designed for desktop workstation use. This Poweredge T410 has room for 6 hard drive bays, all hot swapable using a backplane. Just be aware that the default Dell Perc SAS 6i raid controller card that it coimes with is limited to 2TB max size hard drives. Upgrading the ROM on this card, with not help it to use larger drives. You may need to swapt it out for a Dell Perc H310, or H700 or something similar for drives larger than 2TB. I am using this server as ESXI hypervisor. Just loaded it up with 6x 1TB drives for the datastore and using a FreeNAS server for mass file storage.
