Powerful upgrade for older motherboard.
I used my Asrock 970a-g/3.1 to unlock all 6 cores and it is running a stable 3.8Ghz overclock with cool'n'quiet enabled.

A powerful stopgap that allows one to put off upgrading to the latest and greatest.
2 of 2 found this helpful Used to replace a less capable older motherboard, while utilizing all of the same components. It immediately showed its superiority by exhibiting faster boot times corresponding to its innately faster I/O. I haven't even been able to start to use the majority of its advanced features, and although it is not the most powerful PC I own by far it is among the fastest and most flexible. Excellent technology remains excellent despite the passage of time. Since I can't currently afford any bleeding edge technology, older technologies that more than get the job done fit the bill.
