Swells up in contact with petrol.

Found the rubber gasket for the float chamber swells up when in contact with petrol, not ideal for a carburettor. Makes we wonder about the other rubber seals? I use the 5% ethanol fuel rather than the 10%, maybe the rubber used is not resistant to ethanol which makes it useless in the UK.
