Saved buying a new steering rack!
1 of 1 found this helpful Having drilled out a snapped bolt in my steering rack, not surprisingly there was some damage to the original thread. This kit gave me everything I needed (with the exception of a 3x diameter or 30mm insert which I purchased elsewhere) including the precise drill and tap to take the insert. There are not the sir of sizes you are likely to have already. Using the included tool screwing the insert into the new thread was a doddle as was breaking off the tang once insertion was complete. The rack is now ready to be re-fitted to my Alfa GTV. Apparently the insert can cope with the required torque even more readily than the original thread in the aluminium alloy of the rack.
This is the first time I have ever needed to use an insert but I would recommend V-coil as being straight forward and easy to use at a competitive price. Only improvement would have been to include the full range of insert lengths in the kit rather than all the same.
