    Hello, Rest assured, the divots are glazed and normal. They are from firing/from the stands the plates rested on on during the process. They were visible in the photo of the back of this plate that I provided in the listing. The photos in the listing were able to show all the details up close as they allow you to scroll in. I definitely recommend using that tool. If you scroll in on other listings of the same plate, you will notice that they all have them.

Parents review of Dragonology Handbook.
I purchased this book for my 8 year old son after he borrowed one from a friend and fell in love with it. The book is really quite beautiful with exciting and detailed illustrations and lots of information for anyone interested in Dragonology. It opens with an oath to protect Dragons and is presented in three different levels, Elementary, Intermediate and Advanced. Something to challenge all ages upward of aprox 8 yrs in my opinion. You learn about different types of Dragons, how to identify them and my sons favorite was the Dragon Script. I would recommend this book, as a parent I enjoyed watching my child's imagination fueled by his excitement for the Dragons. This is the companion to the #1 New York Times Best Seller.
