Not Much of an Engineer by Hooker, Sir Stanley Hardback Book The Cheap Fast Free

How to save Rolls Royce Aero.
This isn't a regular Autobiography, it is more to do with Engineering the use of mathematics in solving problems (you do not need to understand maths to follow the story) and developing jet Engines, plus business management. But if that is your bag, it is a cracking good read. With the added bonus of how the Rolls Royce Merlin engine was improved and helped beat the Axis powers in WW2, it was the Engine that made and powered the P-51 Mustang, as well as the Lancs and Spits etc. And how in the 1960s/70s RB211 jet engine, nearly wrecked, but then saved, Rolls Royce Aero Engines:-))

Less Tap more story?
This is an Astaire Rogers collaboration that is less bout the dancing and music more the story. Roberta is a renowned Paris clothes designer. Astaire along with Randolph Scott (not wearing chaps and riding the range lol) find themselves in Paris without a gig for their band. However Scott's favourite Aunt the eponymous Roberta, helps out and gets them a gig. An Italian Viscountess one of Roberta's more trying clients is actually Astaire's childhood neighbour, from back int the States. Meanwhile Randolph Scott, who is not riding a horse, and actually brushes up well and looks neat in a sexy pinstriped suit, falls for the Woman who has taken over the designing of the Roberta label. Roberta dies, and usual antics of who will take over the company. There isn't a lot of dancing but the story is good enough. I won't spoil the actual ending but a good film.
English Historical Documents, Vol. 4, 1327-1485-ExLibrary

Superb research resource
The whole series is brilliant as they bring the world of British History and its original source documents within the reach of everyone. If there is one criticism, it is that really to cover between the middle of 13th Century and end of Victorian period adequately could have done with at least two more volumes. !327 to 1485 has around 1200 pages, which means it is a very heavy tomb, but also lacks some depth. The Black Death (1349) for instance, is covered in only about five documents, and I have not found any other later documents referring to later bouts of Pestilence? This aside as a source book it is truly monumental, and worth every penny. I have put good value, in the ratings, however this is all relative, I paid less than the going rate, however being on just above Minimum wage, it was enough for me. Those with deeper pockets could do worse than just ask for a discount?
