Does Very Little
4 of 4 found this helpful I have bought a few air purifiers from Levoit. This one does a fraction of what the others do, for only $15-30 less than far superior models. I can really tell now with fire season, and filter looks brand new after running on high while there is smoke and ash outside. Meanwhile the other Levoit's filters look like I would expect (ie dirtying usually quickly due to hazardous air quality). When I first got the model I had no reason to believe it didn't accomplish much, because air blows out the top as expected. I realize after the fact the design is deceptive, and unlike other models, the air isn't pulled in through the entire bottom half of the cylinder. There are a small number of holes on the bottom of the device for air to be sucked up. When I put my hand against them, with the machine at maximum capacity, I can barely tell there is air flow. Meanwhile, with my other machines, I can feel the air flow easily. This machine is an economy model that is not worth spending money on. It's a cute design and a nice idea, but better to spend the extra $15-20+ and get something that does 2-3 times what this does.
