Awesome lens for the artist and the analog photographer
This is an artistic lens therfore this review is very subjective. I love the way the Zeiss lenses draw and this one draws beautifully. I own the 85mm f/1.4 for my canon and I was looking for something similar for my Leica. This one hit the mark. It has almost the same style (except for the depth of field) as the 85mm and is wonderful for portrait and street shooting. Being a 50mm lens the depth of field is thicker than the 85mm. Nevertheless, it takes amazing photos. The lens is soft wide open, however I shoot film and softness is not an issue. Same for the focus shift, it is not an issue in the analog world. This is a compact light lens which I use almost 90% of the time. I do own a Summicron 35mm and a Voigtlander 35mm 1.4 which I use every now and then.

The Leica M7 is gorgeous and practical
I always wanted an M7. Finlay, I decided to bite the bullet and get it. The gentleman I bought it from, dropped down the price to let me have it. I guess he could feel how badly I wanted the camera. So here I am with this beauty with no regrets. Pros: 1)Beautifully Designed 2)Solid Manufacturing 3)Small Size 4)Lots of lenses available at all price ranges (Voigtlander, Zeiss, SLR Magic, Leica, which by the way all are good for film photography). 5)Manual Focus (I cannot imagine a pro photographer shooting with auto-focus) 6)Aperture Priority mode (Exposure always spot on). 7)Simple to use 8)One focus point (no need for more if you can visualize where the focal plane is and its depth) 9)Uncluttered viewfinder (Not TTL, but again not a problem if you can visualize the DOF) Cons: 1)Not for beginners. Being a long time photographer, I just want to mention that it is not all about the camera. Few of my favorite photos are shot with cheap/old cameras (Canon, Zenith,...). Therefore, don't break your back to get a Leica M. Get it if you can afford it.
